BIRSA MUNDA SCOUT AND GUIDE BRIEF HISTORY

The Boy Scout Movement had a simple start In the year 1907 when Maj. General of British Army Lord Baden Powell conducted an experimental camp in Brownsea Island in England with 20 boys. The successful conduct of the camp and publication of the Book "Scouting for Boys" in a fortnightly marked the start of the Boys Scout Movement. In the year 1910, Crystal palace Rally was held where Girls wearing the boy Scout uniform appeared and wanted to join the Scout Movement. Lord Baden Powell decided to start a movement for Girls with the help of his sister Agnes Baden Powell. Since during that period the British Empire was ruling a major portion of the globe, it provided an opportunity to Maj General Powell to expand his movement to countries ruled by the British Raj.

Birsa Munda Scout & Guide (BMSG) is which imparts training to the youth of the state thereby ensuring overall personality development to include physical, mental and cultural aspects. This training is imparted by Ex-servicemen and the scout/guide teachers trained by them.

(1875-1900) was an Indian tribal freedom fighter, religious leader and flok hero who belonged to the Munda tribe. He spearheaded an Indian tribal religious millenarian that arose in the tribal of modern-day Bihar & Jharkhand the late 19th century, during the British Raj, thereby making him an important figure in the history of the Indian independence movement. His achievements are even more remarkable for having been accomplished before the age of 25. His portrait hangs in Central Hall of the Indian Parliament, the only tribal leader to have been so honored.

Our Vision

Birsa Munda Scout & Guide is a Non Governmental Organization registered with the government of Jharkhand that includes educational movement for young people, open to all without distinction of origin, race or creed ,in accordance with the purpose, principles and methods conceived by the Founder father Lord Baden Powell. Our mission is to provide better scouting education to youngsters by Ex-Army Officers, there by inculcating discipline in children & youths, nationalistic feeling, honesty, truth, values so that they become responsible citizens of the country. The organisation's name after BIRSA MUNDA has a special significance not only for the state of Jharkhand but for the whole nation. He is the only tribal freedom fighter leader whose portrait is displayed in the central hall of Indian Parliament. Our organisation aims at preparing the present day youth as a responsible citizens by the inherent traits of Bursa Munda which he inculcated in a short span of life of 25 years.

Aim

The aim of Birsa Munda Scout & Guide is two fold

Honors and welfare to Ex-servicemen.

To inculcate discipline, physical ablity cultural and social awareness and self confidence among youth of Jharkhand & India.

Benefits to Youth

The training will instill a sense of pride in uniform.

Training will make them self confident, disciplined and culturally aware. Make them responsible citizens of the country.

Benefits to the Institution

Improvement in overall discipline within the campus. Will be able to support the government and society by contributing trained youth as volunteers during major events like mela etc. We are hopeful that our organization will get support and cooperation from one and all.
